The Human Resources Portfolio is headed by a Deputy Commissioner General.

The Human Resources portfolio is mandated to handle staff matters and has the following sections;

  •  Human Resources Section

Mandate: Proper staffing and management of the human resources in the Service who are our most prized asset to achieving our goals and mandate as enshrined in the Constitution of Zimbabwe and the Prison Act.

  • Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service Police (ZPCSP)

Is an internal discipline unit established to ensure that the code of conduct is adhered to by all correctional officers.

  • Mounted Unit

To protect farm produce, forests, equipment and any government property from theft. and vandalism by patrolling using horses as well as training on the use of horses and management.

  • Dog Section

To provide security to prison institutions and reserves as well as training in dog handling and management.
